Hybrid renewable energy system (Rev #1)

Contents

Idea

Combining renewable energy solutions into integrated and intelligent energy production systems. Intelligent in the sense that they are provided with suitable non-linear or linear control systems.

From Wikipedia:

Hybrid renewable energy systems (HRES) are becoming popular for remote area power generation applications due to advances in renewable energy technologies and subsequent rise in prices of petroleum products. A hybrid energy system usually consists of two or more renewable energy sources used together to provide increased system efficiency as well as greater balance in energy supply.

Details

The overall goal is to optimize reliability for the HRES, while each of the in the underlying renewable energy systems might have times when they are not available to provide power.

Wind power is producing zilch when there is no wind. So one way is to combine it with other renewable power sources. Here is one example which integrates photovoltaic solar power with wind power.

There is also some approaches that combine more than two renewables like Fuel cell, wind and solar power.
